Welcome to version 3!

Do yourself a favour and read about what’s new or changed. Definitely worth it!

Map

chargEV now uses intelligent clustering to enhance orientation on the map. In zoom levels which show a large geographical area stations are clustered – when zooming in, clusters transform to individual pins.

When dragging the map around stations are now loaded automatically. No need to tap the reload button, which is why it has been removed.

Pins

As the number of stations continuously increases and the type and power levels become more and more divers, using pin colours for power levels is not practical anymore. All pins now start as grey pins, a flash icon in two colours next to it mark DC-chargers (blue: up to 150 kW, gold = more than 150 kW). An initial connector configuration in the settings and very easy, but powerful individual filters allow you to filter out all stations not suitable for your current needs. More info follows below. With the new chargEV Plus subscription the pins get colored based on a much more valuable information: Green, orange and red visualise the availability of your chosen connectors. More details below.

Preview pane (the popover shown after tapping a pin):

The preview pane now shows the number of available connectors and the power available. This info is based on your connector settings and filters applied – thus only showing data for the relevant connectors: The ones you are interested in right now. With chargEV Plus the popover information also includes how many of the relevant connectors are currently in use and how many more are available.

Station detail view

The new detail view sports a slightly new layout. The meta data block at the top now also lists information about compatible chargecards, the network the station belongs to and which directory sponsors the data. So all important facts are always visible without the need for scrolling.

A new section was introduced for anything chargecard-related. It shows which of your chargecards are compatible and allows to add and remove chargecards you own. Everything in one place.

Another new section shows what type and how many of those connectors are present. With chargEV Plus this section also displays the status of the connectors – information provided by the operators, if available.

Filter

The classic "Only fast chargers" filter has been removed to make space for some cooler ones!

Both the AC and the DC Filter have an additional setting to define a minimum power level you want.

After a way too long wait chargEV now also includes Supercharger v3! Planned locations as well!

For everybody not needing those there is a setting to completely remove Tesla Superchargers from the map.

Disabling Tesla SuC is crucial for everybody not being able to charge there as technical limitations make it impossible to differentiate Tesla’s CCS Superchargers from a conventional CCS station. Would be stupid to end up at a SuC in your I.D. 3 with 2% left, wouldn’t it? If you cannot use them, disable Tesla Superchargers in the settings.

chargEV Plus

Most of the new features are based on contracts with operators and service providers – that’s why we cannot provide this data free of charge. We also do not want to nag you with ads or track your usage data for third parties. So we don’t. Every subscription includes a trial period which makes all features available for you to test out. In case you decide you do not want it you can still use all classic features free of charge. Plus, Dark Mode, Auto-Reload and the new filters also included in the free version.
